This picture’s old as hell, but for the past hour and a half I’ve been watching old Vanna videos on youtube and reminiscing over the days where I had goals inspired by these guys. Like I remembered in high school that I’d tell myself I was going to see them before I turned 20, and I checked that off my list pretty early but holy shit did I come close to missing Chris Preece before he left the band. I know what most people are gonna say, ‘oh how typical that no one gives a shit after the vocalist leaves’, but that’s bullshit. Flashback to last July when I actually got to meet the guy and have a good, solid conversation about his post-Vanna plans and my college ambitions. Who would’ve thought we were thinking of going to the same school to study similar fields of science? Yeah, never in my life have I met anyone who was into the physics of time and space and just as enthusiastic about it as I was; never would I have imagined that person being my favorite singer from one of my most favorite bands, fuck yeah.
Too bad I was broke as hell (and I still am) and not proficient enough in math to even get in to that school, but the dream’s not dead. I’m slowly finding my way around these obstacles and I know the end product will be extraordinary, with my goals getting an upgrade from seeing/meeting bands to discovering habitable exoplanets and other amazing things.
Who knows, I’ll name the planet Vanna or something. :3
